Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- To find the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental in Emerald Isle:
- First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Condo-Sleeps 4-Newly Renovated has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's an individual New Bern attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
