Getting the best rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect vacation rental in Indian Beach:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront, ground-floor condo with 4 pools & 2 hot tubs - steps to the beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a specific New Bern beach you are enamored with, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
