Strategies to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Green Flash in Pine Knoll Shores, NC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Advice for a great stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
