Tricks and tips for getting the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:
When to reserve a New Bern rental & When to go:
- To get the best rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the perfectrental:
- To start, have your family choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Oceanview, poolside, 2BR\/2B condo sleeps 6 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
