Emerald Isle rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Panoramic Ocean and Sound Views Fantasea Cottage on Emerald Isle has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern attraction you long to visit, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
