Our top Emerald Isle vacation rental tips:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Pebble Beach 1-110, Oceanside Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
