Tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourvacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Cottage Suite 194*** has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a particular New Bern beach you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
