Tips to get the best New Bern vacation home experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the largest rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book a perfect New Bern rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Pebble Beach H-103, Oceanside Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
