Strategies for getting the best Emerald Isle rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the perfectrental:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. R&R, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 11 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
  • If there's a certain New Bern attraction you simply love, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
