Strategies for getting the perfect Beaufort rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • To book the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, selecting, and booking the right New Bern rental:

  • Start by having your group agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. SCUBA diving lodge in Beaufort! Free wifi and Cable TV has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular New Bern beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
