Tips to get the optimal New Bern rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Beaufort. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Sea Serenity - the best views in the coastal Carolinas @ Old Towne Yacht Club has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you crave, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your contract.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
