Strategies to get the best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Pine Knoll Shores. To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing and booking a perfect New Bern vacation home:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Seas The Day, Oceanfront House in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
