Our top Rental property booking tips:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best New Bern rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose the best dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sound Of The Sea East 107, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your contract.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
