Tips and Tricks to get the very best New Bern rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Beaufort. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
How to select the best rental home in the New Bern area:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Speight House, Soundfront House in Historical Beaufort, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
