Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Choosing and booking the perfect New Bern vacation home:
- To start, have your family commit to dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Between Sound & Sea - Private Beachfront Parking Lot Access has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. text the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
