  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.

  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.

  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
