Strategies to get the optimal New Bern vacation rental experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in Atlantic Beach:

  • First, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Spacious pool view 4BR townhome, short walk to beach has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
