Strategies for getting the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning and picking the best New Bern vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Studio Condo at Atlantic Beach waiting for you to come and play :) has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
