Tips to get the very best rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are high season in Beaufort. To book the best rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the best rental in the New Bern area:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Sunset Bay Retreat- Sound Front Home has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
