Tricks and tips to get the very best New Bern vacation property experience:
When to reserve a New Bern rental & When to go:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing your prefect New Bern vacation home:
- To start, have your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Sunset Bay Retreat- Sound Front Home with Dock has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, email the host before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
