Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your search:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Sweetwater, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
