Strategies for getting the best New Bern vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Booking your New Bern vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose yourvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. The Bearplex of New Bern featuring king-size bed has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
