Tips to get the very best New Bern vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing and booking a perfect New Bern rental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Nymphe De Mer (Sea Nymph) has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Have a great stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
