Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:
- To get the best rental within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick your New Bern rental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. The Cozy Bear Bungalow has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
