Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best rental home in Emerald Isle:
- To start, have your family choose the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Toes in the Sand ???? Drink in Hand! 2 Decks, Views throughout, Great location! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual New Bern attraction you crave, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
