Tips to get the best New Bern vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer time is high season in New Bern. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- First, have your family choose a vacation week and a max budget.
- Near New Bern Waterfront has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
