Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. UPDATED Sea-renity EAST near boat ramp has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's an individual New Bern destination you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Have a great stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
