How to find the best rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. Reserve your New Bern vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Cute cottage within walking distance to historic downtown Beaufort, NC. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

During your stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
