Getting the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing the perfect New Bern rental home:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Updated FULL Duplex - Perfect Large Fam Vacay Spot has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
