Tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the best vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Updated Home with Ocean View - with Private Pool and Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
