Tips for getting the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Beach Escape, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
