Emerald Isle rental home tips:
Finding your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book the rightrental:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. WATERFRONT! Tranquility bytheSea, CShoreBeachHome, Across from Beach onthe Sound has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is right for your group.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
