Tips for getting the perfect New Bern rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking your prefectrental home:
- To start, have your family agree to vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. WELCOME TO TRANQUILITY! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Tips to have a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
