Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your New Bern vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
How to pick the perfect rental home in Emerald Isle:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Woody Cottage, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
