Tips to get the best New Bern rental home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, change your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:

  • Select dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 3 Minute walk to the ocean, Overlooks the pool!!! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
