Booking the best vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • To get the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3BR Cottage - short walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before booking the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Some things to know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
