Tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 3rd-Floor Home in Oceanfront Complex w\/Shared Pool & Hot Tub, Balcony, WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
