How to book the best rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- To get the best rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the best rental in the New Bern area:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 3rd Row Oceanview Duplex, beach and community pool access, in Spinnaker's Reach has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
