How to find the best New Bern rental home experience:

When to reserve a New Bern rental & When to go:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To find the largest rental within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect vacation home in Atlantic Beach:

  • To start, have your group agree to dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Bright, cheery, well appointed 3BR, 3.5B Townhome has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
