Strategies for getting the best Beaufort vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Beaufort. Book your New Bern rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the bestrental:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. 5th Floor Condo with breathtaking views of Beaufort Waterfront & Carrot Island. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
