Tips to get the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summer time is high season in Atlantic Beach. To find the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the perfect rental in the New Bern area:
- Start by having your group agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Boardwalk Shores (B) Very close to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
