Getting the best Indian Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Indian Beach. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. A Wave From It All - First Floor Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
