Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern rental experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing the rightvacation home:

  • Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Pebble Beach C-203, Almost Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, email the host before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your invoice.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
