Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To get the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:

  • Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • House in Atlantic Beach with WIFI, near the beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
