Our top Atlantic Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Atlantic Beach. To book the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing and booking the right New Bern rental home:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beachy Haven
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
