Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your New Bern rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. UPDATED Sea-renity WEST near boat ramp has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
