Booking the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Cents and Cents-Ability -- Cozy Beach Getaway! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
