Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Find your best deal:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental in the New Bern area:
- Start by having your group agree to the best dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Beau Coast RNR! Come relax and enjoy our BEAUtiful COASTline has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
