Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. South ACK-Lil bit of Nantucket in Beaufort NC! Book now for summer! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the host before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
