Rental booking tips:

Finding your best deal:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing the perfect vacation rental in Beaufort:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Blue Bowline - Beaufort Convenience, Boat and Pet Friendly! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
