Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Summer Winds C-228, Oceanfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you are crazy about, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
