Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
When to go & When to book:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. BREATHTAKING VIEWS\/ DIRECT OCEAN FRONT has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
